Policies and registration
The fun stuff.
How to Register
To register for a trip, go to the All Trips page, or simply click on the trip you want to join under the dropdown “Book a Canoe Trip.” We ask that you read and sign the waiver, as well as pay a reservation deposit of $200 to secure your spot. Available space on each trip varies based on the destination and how many people have already signed up.
Our trips are capped at 8 participants, so if you would like to travel with a larger group, please contact our office directly for information or to discuss creating a custom trip for your group.
Upon submitting your initial registration form with the deposit fee to Braiding River, you will receive an information package by email, which will include:
Important dates to mark in your calendar
Trip itinerary with exact meeting locations
Braiding Rivers registration and medical history form
Packing lists for your personal gear
An invoice for the remainder of trip costs
The balance of payment for your trip will be due 60 days before your trip departure date. If you are signing up less than 60 days before departure, the balance of payment will be due immediately and, once paid, you will receive your registration package.
Cancellation Policy:
General cancellations:
If you cancel your reservation up to 61 days before the trip, you will receive half of your deposit back. You could alternatively choose to transfer your full deposit to another trip in the same year, or 75% of your deposit to a trip the following year.
If you cancel between 31 and 60 days prior to the trip you may
Take a 50% refund of the full trip fee
Transfer your full trip fee to another trip in the same year
Transfer 75% of your trip fee to a trip in the following year
Refunds will not be issued for trips cancelled within 30 days of the trip date. We encourage you to get trip cancellation insurance to cover yourself in case unforeseen circumstances should arise.
Unforeseen cancellations:
Refunds will not be issued for trips affected by circumstances beyond our control such as extreme weather events, dangerous or unsuitable water levels, wildfires, flooding etc. Every effort will be made to accommodate guests and provide a suitable alternative in case of such events.
Low Enrolment:
Braiding Rivers reserves the right to cancel a trip any time up until the day of departure due to low enrolment. In the event of a cancellation due to low enrolment, you will be offered the opportunity to participate in another trip during the same season if there is space (any difference in cost will be refunded or billed). If other trip options don’t work for you, you will be entitled to a full refund of your trip fee. Braiding Rivers will do everything possible to let guests know well in advance if a trip is likely to be cancelled.
SARS Cov-2 precautions:
We recognize that we are not in the “post-Covid era,” but rather the “post-precautions era,” and that there are many of us who are still impacted by the presence of the SARS Cov-2 virus.
The Covid precautions we follow are:
Ask that all individuals are asymptomatic on Day 1 of the trip
Following the Covid-19 Hazard Index as put forward by the Moriarty labs, which looks at wastewater levels of SARS Cov-2
Carry an extra tent for isolation in the event someone becomes ill on trip
Request that people wear masks during shuttles/when in close proximity
Good hygiene practices, with ample handwashing and 3-bin wash system in the kitchen
Waiver of Liability:
All participants are required to sign a Waiver of Liability before participating in any Braiding Rivers trip. If a waiver is not completed prior to a trip the participant will be ineligible to participate. You can download and read our waiver here.
Evacuation Policy:
Our first priority is to keep you safe and healthy on trip. In the unlikely event of an emergency evacuation from trip, the guest who is evacuated will be responsible for all costs associated with the evacuation. Braiding Rivers will not be responsible for covering any costs associated with emergency evacuation procedures. No trip fees will be reimbursed for lost trip days as a result of an evacuation.
It is highly recommended that all participants in Braiding Rivers trips purchase emergency travel insurance with sufficient coverage prior to participating in a trip.
